CIA AT COPIA

Napa, CA

Set along the Napa River in downtown Napa, CIA at Copia is the Culinary Institute of America’s immersive food-and-wine hub—a place where education meets entertainment, and every detail is designed for discovery. Hailed as a “foodie wonderland,” Copia brings guests closer to chefs, craft, and culture through hands-on classes, tastings, exhibitions, and events.

A storied setting with modern momentum. The Copia campus began life in 2001 as Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts, a visionary cultural project championed by Robert and Margrit Mondavi to celebrate abundance—literally the meaning behind “Copia.” After its museum era (2001–2008), the CIA acquired the northern portion in 2015 and re-opened in 2016 as today’s vibrant campus.

Professional theaters for culinary performance. Copia houses two purpose-built theaters: the intimate Napa Valley Vintners Theater—ideal for chef demos, seminars, and tastings—and the larger Theater at Copia used for lectures, festivals, and industry conferences. These flexible, AV-ready venues make culinary storytelling feel cinematic.

State-of-the-art kitchens—built to teach, film, and inspire. The centerpiece is the Hestan Teaching Kitchen, a nearly 9,000-square-foot participatory space outfitted with six Hestan commercial suites, multiple hood lines, and mirrored sightlines—engineered for hands-on learning, filming, and premium guest experiences.

Art, artifacts, and interactive exhibits. Just steps from the classrooms, guests explore the Chuck Williams Culinary Arts Museum, featuring 4,000+ artifacts from the Williams-Sonoma founder—open daily and free to the public. Across the building, rotating exhibits, a Wine Hall of Fame, and striking sculptures (including Gordon Huether’s monumental Fork and the whimsical “Is That Bob and Margrit?”) turn every corridor into an experience.

Light-filled interiors and beautiful grounds. Copia’s architecture—concrete, glass, and soaring volumes—frames a sun-splashed Atrium (up to 250 seated / 800 standing) for walk-around tastings and receptions. Outdoors, the landscaped Copia Culinary Gardens and a 1,000-seat outdoor amphitheater set the stage for alfresco ceremonies, concerts, and culinary showcases—all within walking distance of Oxbow Public Market.

Why CIA at Copia matters. As the Truffle Festival’s sponsor and partner, Copia offers unmatched production infrastructure (theaters, pro kitchens, AV), a built-in audience of culinary enthusiasts, and a setting that elevates every moment—from a sparkling reception to a chef’s finale. It’s where Napa’s culinary future is taught, tasted, and celebrated—making it the perfect home for truffles, talent, and unforgettable guest experiences.
