Cutting Edge Truffle Science

“… The truffles themselves have been interrogated, and have answered simply: eat us and praise the Lord.” Alexandre Dumas
Counting the days until…January 13-16, 2012 for the second annual Napa Truffle Festival, featuring a unique gathering of leading truffle cultivation experts and scientists, special guests from the food and wine world, and internationally-renowned Michelin Star Chefs – with keynote address by distinguished travel/food writer and former editor of Bon Appétit, Barbara Fairchild.
As North America’s premier truffle event, the Festival will showcase the venerated black truffle—specifically, the winter Périgord truffle (Tuber melanosporum), which will be discussed, examined, probed, demonstrated, prepared, and finally feasted upon for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Programs and activities throughout the weekend will include culinary/cooking demos, lunches and tours at Raymond Vineyards and Robert Mondavi Winery, a lively Festival Marketplace showcasing local artisanal vendors, and a grand multi-course Truffles & Wine Dinner at La Toque—each course prepared by a Michelin Star Chef (see last year’s seven-course Truffle Dinner menu). There will also be truffle cultivation programs led by top truffle experts and scientists based on the latest and most rigorous scientific methodology and research principles, along with a truffle orchard tour at Sinskey Vineyards. Truffle dogs will also be on hand to sniff things out–hunting and training (petting allowed).
Tickets now available! And please register your email to receive ongoing updates about the festival throughout the year.
Also, special room rates are available at the Westin Verasa for the Festival weekend. Book online.
