“… The truffles themselves have been interrogated, and have answered simply: eat us and praise the Lord.” Alexandre Dumas
SOLD OUT – 2012!…January 13-16, the second annual Napa Truffle Festival, featured a unique gathering of leading truffle cultivation experts and scientists, special guests from the food and wine world, and internationally-renowned Michelin Star Chefs – with keynote address by distinguished travel/food writer and former editor of Bon Appétit, Barbara Fairchild.
As North America’s premier truffle event, the 2nd annual Festival once again showcased the venerated black truffle—specifically, the winter Périgord truffle (Tuber melanosporum), which was discussed, examined, probed, demonstrated, prepared, and finally feasted upon for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Programs and activities throughout the weekend included culinary/cooking demos, lunches and tours at Raymond Vineyards and Robert Mondavi Winery, a lively Festival Marketplace showcasing local artisanal vendors, and a grand multi-course Truffles & Wine Dinner at La Toque—each course prepared by a Michelin Star Chef (see this year’s seven course menu). There were also truffle cultivation programs based on the latest and most rigorous scientific methodology and research principles, along with a truffle orchard tour at Sinskey Vineyards. Truffle dogs were on hand to sniff things out–hunting and training (petting allowed).
